Happy Friday! It’s time for some affirmations.
Life has been moving fast lately, very much in a Ferris Bueller kind of way. I’ve had to cover assignments, do a lot of legwork, follow up with clients and potential clients, and I’ve been working on my personal writing projects in the evenings on a more consistent basis. It’s safe to say this is most writing I’ve done in years, in terms of sheer volume and variety, even when I was running a group of magazines. At the same time, the household I live in has undergone some changes in regard to people’s schedules and it’s been an adjustment. All good things, but it can be hard to keep up with so much going on.
“If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it,” Ferris famously said in his eponymous film.
Previously, all of these things would turn me into a tangled stress ball of stretched rubber bands, wound so tight the inevitable snap would be imminent.
But I’m done thinking like that. The only constant we have in our lives is change. (And, if you’re me, coffee.) So, why not look on the bright side and look at what’s good instead of obsessing about what’s bad?
With that in mind, my affirmation this week is:
I will look on the bright side of each situation presented to me. I will step back and look at the big picture. I will find the positive in a potentially negative situation.
And with that, I’m going to drink some more cold brew coffee and then get back to work. Here’s to a great weekend.
Do you use affirmations?
